My name is Isadore Sharp and this is my story...

My dad is an emigrant from Poland to Canada...

When I was a little boy, I always dreamed to build my own hotel...

But my friends always laughed at me...

So I had to try my best to prove they are wrong, and finally got an architecture bachelor degree from Toronto's Ryerson, not Iverson.

In the spring of 1961, my first hotel was finally built, despite it's located in a poor downtown Toronto neighborhood known as a red-light district.

Forth years later, I had my childhood dream come true. It wasn't about money any more, it was about proving them wrong...

Impossible is nothing...

Shaun of the Dead

僵尸肖恩[(005361)20-06-31]
After watching "Shaun of the Dead", there is only one word I would like to criticise---DISGUSTING. :-@ But in these plots, the writer-director did reveal something meaningful information. It is that, by using the actor's line "Sort your fucking live out", we should do something to change, be motivational and enthusiastic, and consequently and undoubtedly achieve our live expectation. What's else to say, urbanlisation makes people lose their individuality, become to be common rather than unique.

The following is quoted from Wikipeadia.

The movie  is a British zombie-themed romantic comedy (or "rom zom com" as it dubs itself), released in 2004. It was written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, directed by Edgar Wright, and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It was a critical and commercial success in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

The plot focuses on Shaun, an unmotivated young man who is attempting to get some kind of focus in his life as he reconciles with his ex-girlfriend and settles his various issues with his mother and stepfather. At the same time he has to cope with an apocalyptic uprising of zombies that is causing society to collapse - but to whose beginnings he is totally oblivious during the first third of the movie.

Plot:
Shaun Riley is an appliance salesman who is going nowhere in life; he follows a mundane routine, and his girlfriend Liz is dissatisfied with their relationship, primarily because it revolves around going to "The Winchester", Shaun's favourite pub, every night. He also has issues with his hated stepfather Phillip, his increasingly unhappy flatmate Pete, and a dissatisfying job where his younger co-workers show him no respect. Following a broken promise to do something special for their anniversary, Liz dumps Shaun. Shaun decides to drown his sorrows at the pub with his other flatmate Ed, his best friend. After a night of drinking, he has an epiphany and resolves to sort his life out.

Unfortunately, this revelation comes at the same time as an uprising of the undead, who begin to attack and devour the living. Shaun comes to realise the gravity of the situation after having a close shave with two zombies who attack him in his backyard, and his flatmate Pete who attacks Shaun when he is trying to flee with Ed. Shaun, along with Ed, proceeds to rescue his loved ones, deciding to take Liz, along with Shaun's mother Barbara, and stepfather Phillip. Liz's friends, David and Dianne also come with them to the Winchester Pub to survive the plague.

During their journey, Phillip is mortally wounded but manages to make his peace with Shaun before turning into a zombie, forcing the group to abandon him, and their car, and go the rest of the way on foot. The remaining group find the Winchester surrounded by zombies, and they approach the pub by impersonating zombie behaviour, but they are discovered after the zombies hear them talking and arguing. Luckily Shaun manages to draw the undead away while the others barricade themselves inside. Shaun returns to the pub thinking that he gave the zombies the slip, but the zombies followed him, and soon break in. Barbara is shot by Shaun after becoming a zombie; David is pulled through a smashed window, torn apart and eaten; Dianne charges outside in a vain attempt to save David, exposing the others to the zombies; Ed decides to stay behind after being bitten; and Shaun has a final confrontation with a zombified Pete. Shaun and Liz, who have reconciled over the course of the day, prepare for one last great battle against the zombie horde, but are saved by the British Army.

Six months after the zombie outbreak, society has returned to normal, and the remaining zombies have now become a part of everyday life, being used as cheap labour and game show participants. Shaun and Liz move in together, along with undead Ed, who is kept in the garden shed, leashed and playing TimeSplitters 2.

Fallen Deutschland...

At around 4:50(GMT+8.00), I woke suddenly after a lingering shocking dream with the result Germany defeated by Spain in the Euro 2008 final game. What an intuition...which also is considered as trauma to unconscious me... :-(

The following quoted from Timeonline.

Fernando Torres fired Spain to the first major tournament triumph in 44 years with the only goal of the Euro 2008 final with Germany in Vienna.

The Liverpool striker latched on to a through ball from Xavi Fernandez and shrugged off the feeble challenge of Philipp Lahm before delightfully lifting the ball over the diving Jens Lehmann for the winner on 33 minutes.

There was little doubt Spain deserved their victory, and after a slow start had gradually taken control of game before finally making their superiority count, though they should have won by more.

Torres had already hit the foot of a post with a towering header, Joan Capdevila skidding the rebound just wide from long range, while moments after Torres's goal, David Silva wastefully lifted a shot yards over the bar when he was found unmarked at the back post by Andres Iniesta.

Michael Ballack, Germany’s inspirational captain, had been passed fit before the game having been extremely doubtful with a calf injury. But the Chelsea midfielder, whose form had been exceptional in this tournament, failed to reproduce his best and all he had to show for his efforts was a cut over his right eye after a first-half clash.

In fact, the only threat seen from Joachim Loew’s side before the interval was a half-chance that fell the way of Miroslav Klose and which came to nothing.

Spain continued to press after the interval and Sergio Ramos back-heeled David Silva’s shot just wide.

Ballack went closest for Germany just before the hour, but his unconvincing effort from Bastian Schweinsteiger’s cross into the penalty area went just the wrong side of the post.

Cesc Fabregas, who replaced the injured striker David Villa in a five-man midfield, was not as influential as he had been coming on as a substitute in the semi-final and made way for Xabi Alonso, the Liverpool midfielder on 63 minutes.

Still, Spain looked threatening every time they ventured into the opposition half. Ramos met Xavi’s free-kick with a firm header which was straight at Lehmann as the German offside trap disintegrated, before Iniesta cut in from the right only to see his shot cleared off the line by Torsten Frings standing by the post.

Nine minutes from time Marcos Senna was just inches away from snaking out a foot to Daniel Guiza’s knockdown as the ball rolled across the face of goal with Lehmann beaten, but one goal proved enough.

Spain: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Carles Puyol, Carlos Marchena, Joan Capdevila, Xavi Hernandez, David Silva, Marcos Senna, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres.

Germany: Jens Lehmann, Christoph Metzelder, Per Mertesacker, Philipp Lahm, Arne Friedrich, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Torsten Frings, Michael Ballack, Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose.

。。it's so fucking brief, I expected it would be more lingering.

The History Boys

18686255
The History Boys is a British film released in October 2006. It was adapted by Alan Bennett from his play of the same name, which won the 2005 Olivier Award for Best New Play and the 2006 Tony Award for Best Play. It was directed by Nicholas Hytner, who directed the original production of The History Boys at the Royal National Theatre in London, and features the original cast of the play.

Cast:
1
top left:
Samuel Anderson ...  Crowther
James Corden ...  Timms
Stephen Campbell Moore ...  Irwin
Richard Griffiths ...  Hector
Frances de la Tour ...  Mrs. Lintott
Andrew Knott ...  Lockwood
Russell Tovey ...  Rudge
bottom left:
Jamie Parker ...  Scripps
Dominic Cooper ...  Dakin
Samuel Barnett ...  Posner
Sacha Dhawan ...  Akhtar

Plot:
The headmaster, Felix (Clive Merrison), hires an energetic young contract teacher named Irwin to assist Hector and Mrs Lintott in preparing the boys for the Oxbridge entrance exams. Irwin's style is utterly different from Hector's and Mrs. Lintott's; while the older teachers emphasise cultural and factual knowledges and the quest for truth, Irwin urges the boys to put a spin on their historical analysis, to value originality above objective truth.

As the plot progresses we learn that Hector habitually offers some of his students rides home on his motorcycle and surreptitiously fondles his passengers. The boys have all come to a mutual understanding on the subject and, while mildly annoyed, laugh off their teacher's advances and more or less willingly continue to take turns riding home on the back of his bike. This practice eventually lands Hector in trouble as he is reported to the headmaster by a school crossing guard who witnesses his action. The headmaster insists that Hector retire early, and also that Hector and Irwin share a class; when they do, the group engages in a tense discussion about how best to analyze the Holocaust.

As part of their General Studies the class acts out scenes from romantic films and literature, and Posner sings a love song – Rodgers and Hart's "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" – which he pointedly directs towards Dakin. Later he seeks out Irwin to discuss his attraction to Dakin. Dakin, who characterises himself as an aspiring lecher, is currently pursuing an affair with the headmaster's secretary, Fiona (Georgia Taylor). He is not displeased by Posner's attention, but finds himself interested by Irwin. Gradually, Dakin's quest to impress Irwin on an intellectual level evolves into a flirtatious, potentially sexual pursuit of his young teacher – who, as Posner, his friend Scripps and even Hector note, is visibly attracted to Dakin.

After interviews, when the boys receive their replies through the post, it seems that they have all gained Oxbridge places, except for the group's gauche sportsman, Rudge. When Mrs Lintott questions him, it turns out that Rudge had already been told at interview that he has a place, due to a family connection with the college (he lets his interviewers believe erroneously that his father was a scout, college servant, in the 1950s).

Dakin approaches Irwin in his classroom after the celebrations and reveals that he found no record of Irwin's attendance at Corpus, the Oxford college he claimed as his alma mater, and Irwin confesses that he lied about his past. Dakin then invites Irwin to give him a blowjob "as a thank you". They make an appointment to "have a drink" on Sunday. Dakin tells Irwin that he has seen two sides to Irwin – a reckless, challenging intellectual and an uptight, cautious personality – and he cannot reconcile them.

Dakin then proceeds to the Headmaster's office and, by threatening to reveal Felix's own sexual harassment of Fiona, forces him to reinstate Hector.

The boys prepare to leave the grammar school at the end of that term, and Hector agrees to give Dakin a ride home on the motorbike "for old times' sake". However, before they leave, the headmaster runs out and stops them, saying that Hector should not take one of the boys. He suggests that Hector take Irwin instead. Dakin gladly hands the helmet to him, and the screen fades to white as they drive off, the boys waving happily and laughing.

Fast forward to a few days later, as it is revealed that the bike was in an accident on the way home, possibly caused by Irwin leaning the wrong way on a corner. Irwin was badly injured; Hector did not survive. At the memorial service, the boys sing "Bye, Bye, Blackbird" and the headmaster gives a trite eulogy. The scene then changes abruptly to an almost empty hall with only the eight boys and Mrs. Lintott present. "Will they come to my funeral, I wonder," Mrs Lintott remarks, before recounting the futures of the eight boys. They have entered a variety of careers: Rudge has become a builder, Dakin a tax lawyer, Crowther a magistrate, Scripps a journalist, Timms the owner of a dry cleaning chain, and Posner a teacher who followed in Hector's footsteps, with similar ambivalence and angst, yet without "touching the boys." Lockwood, who entered the army, died as a result of friendly fire at the age of 28 while serving in the York and Lancaster Regiment, an infantry regiment that was actually disbanded in 1968. It is also revealed that Irwin stops teaching and becomes a maker of TV history documentaries.

The film ends with a collection of moments involving Hector, leading up to the moment that a photograph of the entire class was taken at Fountains Abbey, a scene from earlier in the film. The photo spans the entire screen, and the closing credits are played over the photo.
